The story behind EdHope
EdHope Academy was not built to win an argument with the past. It was built to give athletes clarity, belief, and an honest pathway forward.

Coach Mulenga Kapungulya
Zambian-born footballer. College All-American. Hall of Famer. Founder. Teacher.
Coach Mulenga spent years inside the game—playing it, studying it, pursuing formal licenses, and learning how different environments define development. The education mattered. But the deepest part of his work did not come from a badge. It came from seeing patterns, listening to athletes, and understanding what the person needed before the player could fully emerge.
He founded EdHope Academy because too many athletes are evaluated only by what is visible in one moment. Some need technical detail. Some need movement support. Some need a clearer role. Some need to feel safe enough to be brave again.
Today, the Mulenga Method gives that knowing a clear framework—one that develops capable players without forgetting the human being doing the work.

What we release
Being misunderstood can create pain. Watching an athlete get overlooked can create frustration. Those experiences are real—but EdHope will not turn them into the center of its identity.
The academy does not need to diminish licenses, clubs, coaches, or structured environments to explain why its work matters. There is room for formal education and lived knowing. There is room for teams and individualized support. EdHope stands on what it builds: understanding, connection, evidence, and ownership.
We do not ask, “Who was wrong about this athlete?” We ask, “What does this athlete need now?”
The promise
Whole-athlete development is not lowering the standard. It is understanding enough to apply the right standard at the right time.
We will be honest. We will require effort. We will teach responsibility. We will also listen before judging, separate mistakes from identity, and create space for the conversations that organized sport may not have time to hold.
The goal is not dependency on Coach Mulenga. The goal is an athlete who can see, decide, adjust, communicate, and own the next moment.
